From the first few moments of the first episode, you are transported not just back to the 80s, but to the films of the time. Directors Matt and Ross Duffer have used all of their bag of tricks to pay homage, without completely ripping off directors or films. The influences are obvious. You can’t help but see Spielberg, Carpenter, Zemeckis, Lucas, and King; however, and this is what’s important, what you primarily see are the Duffer brothers.

Oh, and a spectacular cast. Winona Ryder gives her best performance in… forever, some may say? And the children are incredible, most notably Millie Bobby Brown, and Gaten Matarazzo (who most would agree stole the series).

If you are a fan of films like E.T., Stand By Me, The Thing, or any other classic 80s film, we would strongly suggest you check out this original Netflix series.
