Episode 07: Three Flavours Cornetto

What started out as a silly joke, turned into a trilogy of films for director Edgar Wright, actors Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, as well as a host of others. During an interview promoting Hot Fuzz, someone commented on the appearance of Cornetto ice cream in both Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz. Wright quipped that the two films were part of a Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy, and silliness ensued.

Three_Flavours_Cornetto_Trilogy_DVD The final film in the trilogy, The World’s End, recently released on video, making this the perfect time to lean back, bowl of popcorn on your lap, and enjoy parody at its finest.

The three films have been very positively reviewed, in large part because of the brilliant combination of parody, comedy, action and drama. The films openly mock their respective genres (horror, buddy cop, and science fiction). However at the same time, while not taking themselves seriously, they do take the actions of the films seriously in such a way that we as viewers become invested.

Enjoy the episode.

On a different note, Vince and I would like to wish everyone a happy holiday season. We will be taking next week off, however will be back in full force again in 2014. Thank you for all your support.

Best wishes,
Roger & Vince
