Having had his fill of wanton death and destruction in Japan, it seems Godzilla’s on his way state-side again for a little of the same. For this re-imagining, Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures, courtesy of director Gareth Edwards, are transporting Godzilla to US soil once more. It’s not the first time Godzilla’s terrorized North America, however I must say, I’ve always preferred him in Tokyo. Anything else simply doesn’t feel authentic for me personally. And I understand that using the term “authentic” when referring to a massive kaiju seems ridiculous, but there it is, and I stand by it.

POSTER_GodzillaEdwards’ prior directorial credits are fairly slim, his only film credit being Monsters; the rest being a few TV episodes and a short. This is a big movie to tackle; figuratively and realistically. Pacific Rim sold very well worldwide, and there will be obvious comparisons made once Godzilla releases.

As with many big movie titles, Godzilla is shrouded in mystery in this trailer. You only see glimpses of him toward the end. Most of the attention is on the soldiers dropping from the sky (which seems like a idiotic thing to do… they’re basically crispy cream pastries dropping from the sky for Godzilla… hell, they even have lights to make ’em easy to track and snap up as they fall).

Tell us what you think. Are you excited for this movie?
