S.H.I.E.L.D. has come a long way since its comic book creation in 1965 at the hands of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. Nearly 50 years later, it’s Joss Whedon, along with his brother Jed and wife Maurissa Tancharoen, who are trying to hook an entirely new legion of fans by way of the television series, Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
As comic book readers, both Vince and I are quite familiar with S.H.I.E.L.D. They’ve been through a lot of changes, inserted their collective noses into everyone’s business, and suffered massive losses at the hands of the infiltration group, Hydra. This season, we’ve seen much of that in the TV series.
Many were disappointed in the series, feeling it did not live up to their expectations. I must admit to periodically feeling the same. Still, despite our issues with the series, we still enjoyed it. Not enough that it became a “must see”, but rather something fun and enjoyable. There were episodes which shone, however there were also some plot “twists” which burned far too slowly and provided very little surprise in the end.
Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has been picked up for a second season, and we’re curious what it holds in store. What about you folks?
